Our Mission

SCDI's mission is to empower children and families with disabilities through comprehensive support services and advocacy for inclusive education and opportunities. We aim to create an environment where every child can flourish by providing the necessary resources and fostering partnerships to break down barriers and promote equality.

What we do

Our centre in located in CBD, Arusha. We provide free daycare to children of all ages and all disabilities. The centre is open Monday to Thursday 7:30am-16:00. On Friday's we conduct home visits to those who live too far away to attend. The centre has a social worker, special needs teacher and two assistants. We also run a women's group to help the mothers with income generating activities.

Our Future

In the long term we wish to expand our services by providing more theraputic services such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapist. We would also like to provide free transport to and from the centre.

Our promise is to MAKE THEM SMILE

Every child has the Right to Live in an Inclusive World.

Our organization is dedicated to supporting children with disabilities through a variety of initiatives. We provide professional development and support to educators, sharing practical tools, strategies, and relevant information to help them develop coping and social skills with their students. We also offer guidance in classroom and behavior management techniques, as well as curriculum adaptation to ensure that all students have access to a quality education. In addition to our work with educators, we are committed to building community awareness and understanding around how to support children with disabilities. We aim to break down barriers due to stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination that can exist towards people with disabilities, and create a more inclusive society for all. We also provide resources for parents to help them better understand their child's disability and how to support their learning. Our hope is that by working together, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment for children with disabilities to thrive in. We also run a Women's group for the mothers of our children to help them with income generating activities. When possible, we also provide therapy/medical treatment from international volunteers.

Become A Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who love children to come and help with the day to day of running the centre. We also need teachers and medical/healthcare staff such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists to assess and treat our children and to train parents, teachers  and SCDI team.

Become A Sponsor

Sponsor the centre or an individual child. Collaborate is a nice word to invite people to become a partner. It suggests a joint effort towards a common goal, and implies that both parties can benefit from working together. For example, you could say, “I would like to invite you to collaborate with me as a partner on this project.

Curent Needs

See our current sponsorship programs and the equipment our children need. Your Gift helps kids on the path out of poverty, creating a ripple effect that impacts generations.

Thank you for being the reason we smile.
